A portable electronic device is only as good as its battery life: after all, it wouldn't be a phone without a charged battery. However, while most of us protect our phones with strong cases, we don't appear to put as much work into extending the life of our phones' batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries are now used in the vast majority of mobile phones (as well as tablets and laptops). Lithium-ion batteries have a lot of advantages (greater energy density, which means lighter, sleeker phones, for example), but they still degrade over time with regular usage.
Anyone who has used a cell phone for a long period will tell you that the battery life diminishes over time, often lasting barely half a day even after having 100% charge. That's because your phone's lithium-ion battery loses its maximum capacity every time it charges and discharges electricity.
