Fonefix is an Apple Authorised Service Provider offering warranty and out-of-warranty repair services for the entire Apple product range including but not limited to, iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, iMacs, AirPods, and Beats.

All repairs are conducted by Apple-certified technicians, so you can trust us with all your Apple devices and get them back working the way they should. Our Apple-trained technicians use Apple-approved diagnostics and tools on every repair. And we only use genuine Apple parts. This means that all our repairs are Apple-certified and backed by Apple.

How do I get my device repaired?

There are several ways you can get your device repaired by us - it's all dependent on what is most convenient for you:

  • Option 1: Drop off your device at our main technical centre in Mt Wellington, Auckland.

  • Option 2: Book your device online and courier the device straight to our technical centre.

Disabling Find My Device

Find My Device is a security feature that allows a user to track their lost iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. If you lose your device, you can use the Find My app on another device to see its last known location or erase its contents.

As per Apple security policy, Find My Device must be disabled before service/repairs can be conducted. This policy is in force to prevent unauthorized persons from servicing your device without your knowledge.

Devices such as iPhones, iPads, iPods, iWatch, and any Mac devices (2017 or later) have this feature

Software Issues

Please note that Apple's limited warranty covers hardware repairs only (unless there was user-induced damage). Apple guarantees that the hardware is in the best shape and provides a warranty.

Software, on the other hand, is provided 'as-is', which means any use of the software after initial boot could potentially cause problems with the software. Apple regularly updates and upgrades its software to provide the best possible service, but as with most software developers, does not guarantee the software will be fit for purpose all the time. Apple provides easy-to-use tools to initialise storage and reinstall the software, which restores the device to its initial state but cannot guarantee the combination of their system and third-party applications will work under all conditions.

Cost for software-related services:

  • Apple Mac: $199.00 incl GST

  • Mac Data Back-Up: $149.00 incl GST

  • Other Apple Devices: $99.00 incl GST

  • iOS device Data Back-Up: $99.00 GST

iPhones

All iPhone repairs are conducted by an Apple-trained technician using genuine parts sourced directly from Apple, and using Apple-approved processes, tools and guidelines.

Depending on the nature of the fault, in some cases, your iPhone will need to be sent to Apple for a replacement under Apple’s service exchange program.

If your screen is faulty, cracked, or damaged, we can replace this for you. We can usually carry these repairs out in our technical centre (iPhone 6s and above), which takes approx. 2-3 working hours (Repair time may be longer depending on technician availability).

If your battery is not lasting as long as it used to, your battery may need replacing. We can usually perform these repairs inside our technical centre, which takes approx. 1-2 working hours (Repair time may be longer depending on technician availability).

Note* If your iPhone will simply not turn on, this may not be a battery-related issue.

We can also carry out repairs if your iPhone is suffering other problems, such as camera issues, taptic engine issues (vibration), or loudspeaker not working.

There are certain cases where a service replacement unit is recommended under Apple’s service exchange program, which takes approx. 3-4 working days.

An assessment fee is applicable to any out-of-warranty repair, this includes repairs originally classed as in-warranty but was later found to have evidence of physical damage, liquid damage, the fault could not be replicated, or the fault is not covered by Apple warranty.

On iPhone repairs, we charge a $50.00 inspection fee. This covers our initial inspection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting service, carried out by our Apple-certified technicians. The $50.00 can be then credited towards the cost of your out-of-warranty repair (if you choose to accept our quote).

Subject to parts and availability, after a technical assessment, in some cases, a device may be required to be replaced with a service exchange unit or other components are required to be repaired, in those cases we will provide you with a new quote for cost of repairs, freight and handling costs are additional. If your device is having a “battery related issue” which requires your device to be replaced, then your device may be eligible for a replacement unit at a discounted price, however the battery related fault needs to be confirmed by our Apple technicians to receive this price."

MacBook / iMac

All Mac repairs are conducted by an Apple-trained technician using genuine parts and Apple-approved processes, tools and guidelines.

Repairs are conducted inside our technical centre, however, due to a variety of different Mac models and variants, replacement parts are ordered once a device has been assessed by our Apple technicians.

Contact us if your device is out of warranty, suffered physical or liquid damage, for an estimated cost for repairs.

Most repairs are completed in 3 - 5 working days. These are approximate time frames; we aim to complete your repair as quickly as possible. (Repair time may be longer depending on technician availability).

On Mac repairs, we charge a $90.00 inspection fee. This covers our initial inspection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting service, carried out by our Apple-certified technicians. The $90.00 can be then credited towards the cost of your out-of-warranty repair (if you choose to accept our quote).

Neither Apple nor Fonefix can guarantee that data won’t be lost during a repair. Some standard troubleshooting procedures involve storage structure repairs that can result in loss of data. Another even requires storage initialisation or system reinstall, to restore the device to factory settings – to avoid the software issues mentioned earlier.

Customers are therefore strongly advised to have a continuous backup (e.g. using Time Machine, which is a part of Mac OS X) and to make a copy of sensitive data before bringing the device for repair.

We try, of course, to avoid any data loss, but we cannot guarantee that accidents won’t happen. We will also assist with data recovery if the storage is faulty. But the best and only way to avoid such disasters is to have a backup strategy in place.

iPad

iPads are serviced by an Apple-trained technician using Apple-approved diagnostics and processes, due to the nature of design and guidelines set by Apple, all iPads are required to be replaced under Apple’s service exchange program no matter how major or minor the fault may be.

Most repairs are completed in 3 - 5 working days. These are approximate time frames; we aim to complete your repair as quickly as possible.

AirPods & Beats Audio

If your AirPods or Beats headphones need servicing, there’s no charge if the issue is covered under Apple Limited Warranty or a current Apple Service Program.

If a fault is confirmed, the standard process is to replace the entire device or replace the faulty part (for example left AirPods only) depending on the nature of the fault.

If your AirPods or charging case are damaged accidentally, you can replace each damaged item for a special out-of-warranty fee.

If you lose an AirPod or your charging case, you can purchase a replacement, however, please note, in some cases, we do require to have the original serial number of the AirPods or receive the remaining AirPods parts to process a replacement.

Other Apple Products Repairs

As an Apple Authorised Service Centre, we can repair most other Apple products, such as Apple Watch, iPods, Apple Pencil, Apple TV, and other related Apple accessories.

Part-level replacement is not available for these products, so if the fault is confirmed, a replacement device will be provided under Apple’s service exchange program.

If the device is not covered under Apple warranty, suffered physical or liquid damage, then we can replace the device under out-of-warranty paid service.
